Discussion

Crown gold was a gold standard introduced by Henry VIII of England in 1526 that is 22 parts out of 24 gold. This was an alloy with copper that resembles what we'd call rose gold today. Crown gold forms a hard alloy that is practical for coins meant for circulation.
The palette above doesn't include popular alloys of gold such as white gold and rose gold.
