Ink Black is a color based on the fast drying liquid pigment known as black ink. This is a very dark black that is often slightly reddish or purplish. Black ink is usually quite dark as it is designed to have high contrast with writing materials, particularly white paper. Historically most inks were black. The earliest inks used by multiple civilizations were made with a kind of black soot known as lampblack that was collected from fire pits.
